You can begin wearing your postoperative garment immediately after your surgery; many doctors will apply the garment while you are still in the operating theatre. You should follow the advice of your doctor, but many doctors suggest a pressure garment is worn constantly for 2-3 weeks following your procedure to assist with the initial recovery. After the initial recovery, an extended wear garment can be worn, usually a garment with no zippers and a more snug fit for the surgical areas.
